NOTICE OF NOMINATED CANDIDATES ELECTED BY ACCLAMATION

 

NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN that the same number of candidate nominations has been received as vacancies for office of Head of Council as follows:

 

            Nominated for Head of Council is:   Dennis Gullett

 

This nominated candidate is hereby elected by acclamation.

 

NOTICE OF ELECTION

 

NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN that a vote will be taken to elect Ward Councillors from the following duly nominated candidates:

VOTING PLACES

 

Voting places will be open for voting on Wednesday, the 28th day of October 2026 between 8:00 a.m. and 8:00 p.m. at the following locations:

 

Ward 1  Wawanesa                       Wawanesa and District Community Hall

Ward 2  North of Road 43N            Nesbitt Hall

Ward 3  South of Road 43N           Carroll Hall

 

IDENTIFICATION MAY BE REQUIRED BEFORE BEING ALLOWED TO VOTE.  A person may be required to produce one piece of government issued photo identification (for example – driver’s license) or at least two other documents that provide proof of identity.

 

ADVANCE VOTING

 

For the purpose of accommodating persons who are qualified to vote, but who have reason to believe that they will be absent or otherwise unable to attend their proper voting place on election day, an advance voting opportunity will be available on Saturday, the 17th day of October 2026 between 8:00 a.m. and 8:00 p.m. at the following locations:

  

Ward 1                       Wawanesa Municipal Office

Wards 2 & 3              Carroll Hall

 

 Advance voting can also take place at the Municipal Office Monday to Friday, 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. between September 28th and October 25th excluding holidays.


MOBILE VOTING

 

 

For the purpose of accommodating persons who are qualified to vote, but reside at a health care facility, a mobile voting station will be set up at the Wawanesa Personal Care Home and Hospital, 506 George Street, Wawanesa, Mb. on the 28th day of October 2026 from 10:00 a.m. until 11:00 a.m.

 

APPLICATION TO VOTE BY SEALED ENVELOPE

 

A voter who is unable to go in person to the voting place or vote in advance, may apply in person or in writing to the senior election official at 106 Fourth Street, Wawanesa, Mb. R0K 2G0 or at cao@oakland-wawanesa.ca

 

If applying in person, a voter may apply Monday to Friday, 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. between September 28th and October 25th.  If applying by mail or email, an application received 12 or more days before the election will be delivered by ordinary mail.  If the application is received less than 12 days before the election, the voter may be required to make alternative arrangements.  Please contact the SEO at 204-824-2666 for further details.
